Hi There

My name is Ian and I build websites. OK, what does that mean? Well, for one thing it means I design graphical user interfaces for web applications, generally in Photoshop and Illustrator, sometimes in GIMP and even Fireworks. It also means I code markup and style in valid XHTML and CSS, peppered with javascript, usually by way of the jQuery framework. Web standards, semantic code, and accessibility are all integral to my coding philosophy.

Building websites also means I have experience with server-side programming languages, most recently Ruby on Rails, a very cool framework for a very cool programming language, and I have experience with other languages such as JAVA/XSL and PHP. Of course like all good web developers, I have had my love-affair with wordpress.

I have worked on large-scale projects for AOL and Dell and upstart initiatives like Homestars. I have administered multiple users on CMS-based projects. I have created portfolio sites for clients who realize the benefits of an online business presence. In each case, my emphasis is on user experience. User experience is the key to a successful website.

If you are interested in working with me, contact me at ian@graydiant.com. I live in Toronto, Canada.
